Today, Alexi attended the White House reception celebrating Greek Independence Day.  President Barack Obama gave a speech at the event, and in doing so, welcomed Alexi to the White House. 

A partial transcript of President Obama's remarks at event is below:

PRESIDENT  "We have some outstanding members of Congress who are here, and we’ve got at least one potential member of Congress – Alexi, stand up – from the state of Illinois.  (Applause.)  We’ve got in fact, in addition to Alexi, we’ve got a lot of Greek American friends here who’ve been great friends and supporters of mine, including folks here from Chicago.  I think we’ve got just about all of Greektown here." 

Also, during the White House briefing today, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs reitereated the White House's support for Alexi and his campaign to move our country forward.
