CHICAGO -- Today Illinois State Treasurer and Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Alexi Giannoulias’ campaign announced its best fundraising quarter to date, taking in $2.3 million in campaign contributions and shattering the previous record high by more than $1 million.

The record amount comes despite Giannoulias’ pledge to be the first U.S. Senate candidate in Illinois to refuse money from corporate PACs or federal lobbyists.

CHICAGO - The Alexi for Illinois campaign announced today the hire of Matt McGrath as deputy communications director.  In that role, McGrath will serve as a campaign spokesperson, as well as help to craft the campaign's message, highlighting the inconsistencies in Congressman Mark Kirk's grossly out-of-touch record. McGrath, a California native with deep Chicago roots, most recently served as the communications director for the Dan Hynes for Governor campaign.
 

CHICAGO - U.S. Senate Nominee Alexi Giannoulias today announced in an email to supporters that his campaign had its best fundraising quarter ever, raising approximately $1.2 million in campaign contributions without corporate PAC or federal lobbyist money.

The effort will help U.S. Senate nominee and avid basketball player Alexi Giannoulias build upon the momentum and energy from his primary victory and a new independent poll showing him leading Republican Congressman Mark Kirk by 7 points. March Grassroots Madness will be a focused drive to engage supporters and highlight his plans to create the new, good jobs of tomorrow right here in Illinois.

SPRINGFIELD - At his home in Springfield today, United States Senator and Majority Whip Dick Durbin stood with Alexi Giannoulias and announced that he will serve as a Chair of the Alexi for Illinois campaign and do whatever he can to defeat Congressman Mark Kirk in November.
