| Event Desc: | To stress the importance of Early Voting, on Monday, October 18th, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky and ILDCC volunteers and supporters will hold a canvass kickoff in the Chicago area to highlight the stark choice between Republican and Democratic candidates this year and emphasize the importance of this year’s election. The Illinois Democratic Coordinated Campaign (ILDCC) has organized a get out the vote effort that is unprecedented in an off year election cycle in Illinois. Additional early vote rallies are being planned in communities across the state in the weeks ahead. Voters in Illinois do not have to wait until November 2, 2010 to vote. Voting locations across the state have been open since October 11, 2010 and will remain open through Thursday, October 28, 2010. The effort will help U.S. Senate nominee and avid basketball player Alexi Giannoulias build upon the momentum and energy from his primary victory and a new independent poll showing him leading Republican Congressman Mark Kirk by 7 points.
