Statement from Tom Bowen, campaign manager for U.S. Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias:

"The only candidate who is funding his campaign with bank money is David Hoffman. His holdings in JPMorgan Chase and Citigroup were protected by the very TARP money and system Hoffman rails against. Now Hoffman has put $500,000 of that money into his campaign. Bailout dollars saved Hoffman's investments and now he's using that money to fund his campaign."

Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky today endorsed Illinois Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias' bid for U.S. Senate, saying he will stand up to the insurance lobby and protect middle-class families from having their health care benefits capped when they get sick or having their coverage denied because of pre-existing medical conditions.

Springfield, IL -- The Alexi for Illinois campaign today submitted three times the number of signatures required to appear on the ballot for the February 2nd primary election.   Federal law requires that candidates running for U.S. Senate must submit 5,000 valid signatures.

 Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias earned a key endorsement today of his 2010 U.S. Senate bid, adding Congressman Mike Quigley to his growing list of endorsers. Quigley is the third member of Congress to endorse Giannoulias' bid, joining fellow Illinois delegation members Phil Hare and Bill Foster.

 Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias today released an initial list of over 60 elected officials who have pledged to support his bid for the U.S. Senate in 2010. Endorsements for Giannoulias include federal, state and locally elected officials from throughout the state.

 Remarkable 28-day effort achieved without any contributions from corporate PACs or Washington lobbyists.

Despite the economic downturn and lowered expectations for political fundraising this year, Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias has raised more than $1.1 million in less than a month for a possible 2010 U.S. Senate run.

Giannoulias formed his exploratory committee on March 3, leaving just 28 days to raise money before the March 31 deadline that marked the end of the first-quarter filing period.
